Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work French la Fée by Gustave Moreau for USD 237,500.00 (€ 224,862.72). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Gustave Moreau have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work La Chimère in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 677,250.00 (€ 974,220.47).
