In May 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction PAINTINGS FROM THE JOSEPH BROWN COLLECTION, which included the work Port Philip Foreshore by Girolamo Pieri Ballati Nerli. It changed hands for a price of AUD 86,040.00 (€ 52,889.27) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of AUD 60,000.00 – 90,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Port Philip Foreshore is the most expensive artwork by Girolamo Pieri Ballati Nerli that we have observed at auctions so far.
