Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work A Standing Soldier Seen From Behind by Giovanni Battista Gaulli. The price achieved of USD 11,875.00 (€ 11,001.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Battista Gaulli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Head And Shoulders in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 569,000.00 (€ 421,481.48).

Im Januar 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Standing Soldier Seen From Behind von Giovanni Battista Gaulli zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 11.875,00 (€ 11.001,48) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Gaulli erzielen.
