Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Mare = Ballerina by Gino Severini was worth USD 444,500.00 (€ 407,499.08) to a buyer in November this year. This price was achieved in the auction Living the Avant-Garde: The Triton Collection Foundation, Evening Sale Part I at Phillips in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 120,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gino Severini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Danseuse in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 15,049,250.00 (€ 19,022,756.57).
