In September 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Day Sale, which included the work Me As Sander by Gillian Wearing. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 23,750.00 (€ 26,944.68), 58% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gillian Wearing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait at 17 Years Old (from Album), which sold at auction in May last year for USD 63,000.00 (€ 58,708.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im September 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Me As Sander von Gillian Wearing zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 26.944,68) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Gillian Wearing mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Self-Portrait at 17 Years Old (from Album) beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 63.000,00 (€ 58.708,41) versteigert wurde.
