Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a gentleman, traditionally identified as William Taylor, half-length, in a blue coat and white cravat, in a feigned oval by Gilbert Stuart was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2012. The price achieved of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,918.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gilbert Stuart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work George Washington (Vaughan type) in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 11,562,500.00 (€ 9,907,883.46).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, traditionally identified as William Taylor, half-length, in a blue coat and white cravat, in a feigned oval von Gilbert Stuart kam im Mai 2012 bei Christies in London zur Auktion.
