Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work George Washington (Vaughan type) by Gilbert Stuart for USD 1,327,500.00 (€ 1,181,470.27). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,500,000.00 – 2,500,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Gilbert Stuart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work George Washington (Vaughan type) in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 11,562,500.00 (€ 9,907,883.46).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai 2017 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit George Washington (Vaughan type) von Gilbert Stuart für USD 1.327.500,00 (€ 1.181.470,27) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion American Art bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.500.000,00 – 2.500.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gilbert Stuart auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit George Washington (Vaughan type) im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.562.500,00 (€ 9.907.883,46).
