Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Flea Hunt by Gerrit van Honthorst was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 275,000.00 (€ 225,206.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerrit van Honthorst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Merry Group Behind A Balustrade With A Violin And A Lute Player in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 7,557,000.00 (€ 5,597,777.78).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Flea Hunt von Gerrit van Honthorst kam im Februar 2018 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 275.000,00 (€ 225.206,78) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gerrit van Honthorst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Merry Group Behind A Balustrade With A Violin And A Lute Player im Januar 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.557.000,00 (€ 5.597.777,78).
