Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Duet by Gerrit van Honthorst was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Christies in New York in June 2013. Here, the upper estimate of USD 3,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 3,371,750.00 (€ 2,591,660.26). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gerrit van Honthorst - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Merry Group Behind A Balustrade With A Violin And A Lute Player, which sold at auction in January 2014 for USD 7,557,000.00 (€ 5,597,777.78).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The Duet von Gerrit van Honthorst wurde im Juni 2013 in der Auktion Old Master Paintings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 3.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 3.371.750,00 (€ 2.591.660,26) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Gerrit van Honthorst mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Merry Group Behind A Balustrade With A Violin And A Lute Player beobachtet, die im Januar 2014 für USD 7.557.000,00 (€ 5.597.777,78) versteigert wurde.
