Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Probably Sir Thomas Aston (1600-1646) In A White Lace Collar And A Fringed Sash by Gerrit van Honthorst. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,946.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerrit van Honthorst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Merry Group Behind A Balustrade With A Violin And A Lute Player in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 7,557,000.00 (€ 5,597,777.78).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2011 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Probably Sir Thomas Aston (1600-1646) In A White Lace Collar And A Fringed Sash von Gerrit van Honthorst zur Versteigerung kam.
