Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work A Woman Tuning A Lute by Gerrit van Honthorst. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 326,500.00 (€ 249,636.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerrit van Honthorst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Merry Group Behind A Balustrade With A Violin And A Lute Player in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 7,557,000.00 (€ 5,597,777.78).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Woman Tuning A Lute von Gerrit van Honthorst zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 326.500,00 (€ 249.636,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gerrit van Honthorst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Merry Group Behind A Balustrade With A Violin And A Lute Player im Januar 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.557.000,00 (€ 5.597.777,78).
