Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A still-life with white roses, a parrot tulip, white currents, corn flowers, stock, a camelia, lilac, a peonie and blue stock arranged in an urn set on a pedestal decorated with cherubs, a bird seated on the edge of a basket eating berries, and a nes by Gerard van Spaendonck was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2007. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 7,001.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerard van Spaendonck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life Of Roses, Hyacinth, Wallflower And Other Flowers In A Lapis Lazuli Vase; Still Life Of Narcissus, Hyacinth And Other Flowers In A Brown Porphyry Vase in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,261,946.63).
