This artwork by Gerard van Spaendonck achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May last year. In the The Library of Henry Rogers Broughton, 2nd Baron Fairhaven Part I auction, the work Souvenirs de van-Spaendonck, ou recueil de fleurs, Paris, 1826 sold for GBP 4,032.00 (€ 4,743.26) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerard van Spaendonck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life Of Roses, Hyacinth, Wallflower And Other Flowers In A Lapis Lazuli Vase; Still Life Of Narcissus, Hyacinth And Other Flowers In A Brown Porphyry Vase in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,261,946.63).
