This artwork by Gerardo Chávez achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2014. In the Latin American Art Modern & Contemporary auction, the work Guerrero sold for USD 40,625.00 (€ 32,662.00) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gerardo Chávez; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot without title sold at auction in March 2021 with the realized price of EUR 40,320.00.
