This artwork by George William Sotter achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in June 2000. In the American Paintings auction, the work Moonrise at Sunset sold for USD 10,575.00 (€ 11,079.10) - well above the upper estimate of USD 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George William Sotter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Miller'S House in May 2006 with an auction result of USD 192,000.00 (€ 149,614.28).

In der Auktion American Paintings wurde die Arbeit Moonrise at Sunset für USD 10.575,00 (€ 11.079,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George William Sotter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Miller'S House im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 192.000,00 (€ 149.614,28).
