Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Connecticut Scene by George William Sotter was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,875.00 (€ 10,764.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George William Sotter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Miller'S House in May 2006 with an auction result of USD 192,000.00 (€ 149,614.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Connecticut Scene von George William Sotter im Juni 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.875,00 (€ 10.764,14) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George William Sotter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Miller'S House im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 192.000,00 (€ 149.614,28).
