In October 2007 Christies in London held the auction Twentieth Century British Art, which included the work Coal Miner by George Bissill. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,000.00 (€ 4,308.20), 67% above the upper estimate. This high result makes Coal Miner the most expensive artwork by George Bissill that we have observed at auctions so far.
