Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Making a fire in a snowy landscape by George Bissill was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 750.00 (€ 841.71). Admittedly, works by George Bissill have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Coal Miner in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 3,000.00 (€ 4,308.20).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Making a fire in a snowy landscape von George Bissill im Januar 2011 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 750,00 (€ 841,71) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Bissill auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Coal Miner im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.000,00 (€ 4.308,20).
