In October 2006 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work Shipping In Choppy Seas by George Willem Opdenhoff. The auction ended at the price of EUR 9,000.00, which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of EUR 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Willem Opdenhoff have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shipping in a calm; Shipping on a choppy sea in October 2000 with an auction result of NLG 81,914.00 (€ 39,316.02).

Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis

Im Oktober 2006 führte Sothebys in Amsterdam die Auktion 19th Century European Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shipping In Choppy Seas von George Willem Opdenhoff zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 9.000,00 entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 7.000,00 – 9.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Willem Opdenhoff auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Shipping in a calm; Shipping on a choppy sea im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 81.914,00 (€ 39.316,02).
