In July 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Art, which included the work Dutch vessels at the mouth of a river by George Willem Opdenhoff. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,911.06), 61% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Willem Opdenhoff - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping in a calm; Shipping on a choppy sea, which sold at auction in October 2000 for NLG 81,914.00 (€ 39,316.02).

Im Juli 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch vessels at the mouth of a river von George Willem Opdenhoff zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 12.911,06) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Willem Opdenhoff mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Shipping in a calm; Shipping on a choppy sea beobachtet, die im Oktober 2000 für NLG 81.914,00 (€ 39.316,02) versteigert wurde.
