Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Fishermen selling their catch on the foreshore by George Willem Opdenhoff was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in May 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,625.00 (€ 2,024.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Willem Opdenhoff achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shipping in a calm; Shipping on a choppy sea in October 2000 with an auction result of NLG 81,914.00 (€ 39,316.02).

Die Arbeit Fishermen selling their catch on the foreshore von George Willem Opdenhoff wurde im Mai 2012 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.625,00 (€ 2.024,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
