In August 2001 Christies in Sydney held the auction AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS, which included the work Boy with Pipes by George Washington Lambert. The price achieved of AUD 24,675.00 (€ 14,324.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Other works by George Washington Lambert have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2003 the work Miss Alison Preston was auctioned for AUD 44,650.00 (€ 26,935.17).
