This artwork by George Tooker achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2008. In the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Theesance sold for USD 73,000.00 (€ 46,187.92) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Tooker have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Coney Island in December 2002 with an auction result of USD 427,500.00 (€ 407,725.32).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von George Tooker erzielte im März 2008 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture wurde die Arbeit Theesance für USD 73.000,00 (€ 46.187,92) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Tooker auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Coney Island im Dezember 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 427.500,00 (€ 407.725,32).
