Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Figures seated by a river by George Spencer Watson was sold in the Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in March 2011. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,243.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Spencer Watson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Orange Dress in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 57,159.89).
