Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Home - 'Be It Ever So Humble' by George Smith was sold in the Victorian & Edwardian Art auction at Sothebys in London in November 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 50,489.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by George Smith have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2007 the work Home - Be It Ever So Humble was auctioned for GBP 54,000.00 (€ 80,202.47).
