A top price for George Smith - as previously expected

The work Home - Be It Ever So Humble by George Smith was sold in the Victorian & Edwardian Art auction at Sothebys in London in July 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 54,000.00 (€ 80,202.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Home - Be It Ever So Humble is the most expensive artwork by George Smith that we have observed at auctions so far.
