Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Study of a crouching male figure, probably the artist (recto); and Study of a reclining female figure, half-draped (verso) by George Romney was worth GBP 5,670.00 (€ 6,615.17) to a buyer in July this year. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Romney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Edward Wortley Montagu (1713–1776) in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,002,500.00 (€ 5,048,410.94).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Die Arbeit Study of a crouching male figure, probably the artist (recto); and Study of a reclining female figure, half-draped (verso) von George Romney war einem Käufer im Juli diesen Jahres GBP 5.670,00 (€ 6.615,17) wert.
