Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for a portrait of the Duchess of Gordon; Study for a portrait of the Countess of Carlisle; Study of an unidentified figure group by George Romney was auctioned at Christies in London in July this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,528.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Romney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Edward Wortley Montagu (1713–1776) in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,002,500.00 (€ 5,048,410.94).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Study for a portrait of the Duchess of Gordon; Study for a portrait of the Countess of Carlisle; Study of an unidentified figure group von George Romney kam im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion.
