Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a young lady, traditionally identified as Sarah, the Hon. Mrs Richard Tickell (1770-c.1817), half-length, in a white dress and plum sash by George Romney was sold in the Five Private Collections auction at Christies in London in July last year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 27,720.00 (€ 33,102.60) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Romney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Edward Wortley Montagu (1713–1776) in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,002,500.00 (€ 5,048,410.94).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a young lady, traditionally identified as Sarah, the Hon.
