Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Crucifixion by George Richmond was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 750.00 (€ 924.96). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Richmond achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 96,000.00 (€ 141,726.13).
