Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by George Richmond achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2018. In the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction, the work Recollections Of A Sunset sold for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 11,912.96) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Richmond achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 96,000.00 (€ 141,726.13).

Dieses Kunstwerk von George Richmond erzielte im Juli 2018 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper wurde die Arbeit Recollections Of A Sunset für GBP 10.625,00 (€ 11.912,96) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Richmond erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 96.000,00 (€ 141.726,13).
