Sold at the lower estimate price
The work Portrait of a young man, seated, half-length by George Richmond was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2015. The result of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,409.99) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Richmond achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 96,000.00 (€ 141,726.13).
