Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Richmond could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours auction, the work A shepherd waking changed hands for GBP 500.00 (€ 616.64) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Richmond achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 96,000.00 (€ 141,726.13).

Dieses Kunstwerk von George Richmond konnte im Dezember 2012 bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours wechselte die Arbeit A shepherd waking für GBP 500,00 (€ 616,64) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Richmond erzielen.
