In July 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Works on Paper, which included the work A Convolvulus At Shoreham by George Richmond. The result of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,579.23) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Richmond achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 96,000.00 (€ 141,726.13).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Juli 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Convolvulus At Shoreham von George Richmond zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.579,23) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Richmond erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 96.000,00 (€ 141.726,13).
