Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Field Of Flowers by George Hitchcock. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,000.00 (€ 21,426.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Hitchcock achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tulip Culture in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 1,762,500.00 (€ 1,424,933.30).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Field Of Flowers von George Hitchcock zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 31.000,00 (€ 21.426,60) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Hitchcock erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tulip Culture im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.762.500,00 (€ 1.424.933,30).
