Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A View of The Village of Katwijk; And Two Companion Works by George Hitchcock was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,800.00 (€ 3,550.30). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Hitchcock achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tulip Culture in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 1,762,500.00 (€ 1,424,933.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A View of The Village of Katwijk; And Two Companion Works von George Hitchcock im Juni 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.800,00 (€ 3.550,30) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Hitchcock erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tulip Culture im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.762.500,00 (€ 1.424.933,30).
