In May 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work Trees and Meadows of Berkshire by George Henry Smillie for USD 28,800.00 (€ 23,321.73). This price was achieved in the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by George Henry Smillie have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2007 by the work Coastal Scene, New York at USD 36,000.00 (€ 26,917.90).
