Auction result well in line with expectations
The work At the Water's Edge by George Henry Smillie was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2019. The price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,373.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Henry Smillie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Coastal Scene, New York, which sold at auction in March 2007 for USD 36,000.00 (€ 26,917.90).

Die Arbeit At the Water's Edge von George Henry Smillie kam im November 2019 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.373,63) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von George Henry Smillie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Coastal Scene, New York beobachtet, die im März 2007 für USD 36.000,00 (€ 26.917,90) versteigert wurde.
