This artwork by George Henry Harlow achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2000. In the British Art on Paper auction, the work Portrait of Mrs. Sarah Siddons (1755-1831), bust-length, holding a book in her right hand sold for GBP 4,112.50 (€ 6,518.82) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Henry Harlow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Kitty Stephens, Later Countess Of Essex (1794 - 1882), which sold at auction in June 2008 for GBP 20,000.00 (€ 25,280.67).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von George Henry Harlow erzielte im Juni 2000 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British Art on Paper wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Mrs. Sarah Siddons (1755-1831), bust-length, holding a book in her right hand für GBP 4.112,50 (€ 6.518,82) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Henry Harlow mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Kitty Stephens, Later Countess Of Essex (1794 - 1882) beobachtet, die im Juni 2008 für GBP 20.000,00 (€ 25.280,67) versteigert wurde.
