The reverse bears the carved inscription; "The portrait of my dear and most respected friend Henry Fuseli, Esq. R.A. President in Painting and Keeper of the Royal Academy London Born at Zurich in Switzerland 17[41] Painted from the life by George Henry Harlow in May 1818 for me Robert Balmanno".

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of John Henry Fuseli R.A. (1741-1825) by George Henry Harlow was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2008. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,779.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Henry Harlow have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Kitty Stephens, Later Countess Of Essex (1794 - 1882) in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 25,280.67).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait Of John Henry Fuseli R.A. (1741-1825) von George Henry Harlow kam im Oktober 2008 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.779,90) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Henry Harlow auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Kitty Stephens, Later Countess Of Essex (1794 - 1882) im Juni 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 25.280,67).
