In June 2020 Christies in London held the auction Face Time: People in Art through the Ages, which included the work Portrait of Norah Lindsay (1873-1948), three-quarter-length, in a white dress and green sash by George Frederick Watts. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,143.24), 72% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Frederick Watts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hope in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 773,750.00 (€ 1,285,352.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 72 % übertroffen
