Auction result well in line with expectations
In July this year Christies in New York held the auction British and European Art, which included the work Ganymede by George Frederick Watts. It changed hands for a price of GBP 13,860.00 (€ 16,170.42) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Frederick Watts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hope in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 773,750.00 (€ 1,285,352.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ganymede von George Frederick Watts zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 13.860,00 (€ 16.170,42) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Frederick Watts erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hope im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 773.750,00 (€ 1.285.352,70).
