This artwork by George Frederick Watts achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July last year. In the The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art auction, the work Study for 'Love and Death' sold for GBP 44,100.00 (€ 52,663.23) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Frederick Watts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hope in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 773,750.00 (€ 1,285,352.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von George Frederick Watts erzielte im Juli letzten Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art wurde die Arbeit Study for 'Love and Death' für GBP 44.100,00 (€ 52.663,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Frederick Watts erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hope im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 773.750,00 (€ 1.285.352,70).
