Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2019 Christies in London held the auction British Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Clytie by George Frederick Watts. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 68,750.00 (€ 81,254.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Frederick Watts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hope in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 773,750.00 (€ 1,285,352.70).
