This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century and British Impressionist Art at Bonhams in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Frederick Watts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hope in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 773,750.00 (€ 1,285,352.70).
