In December 2002 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Plums and Gooseberries by George Forster. The »bidding war« ended at USD 50,190.00 (€ 47,868.38), 67% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by George Forster; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Still Life with Fruit and Nest of Eggs sold at auction in November 2007 with the realized price of USD 91,000.00 (€ 61,955.34).

Im Dezember 2002 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Plums and Gooseberries von George Forster zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 50.190,00 (€ 47.868,38) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von George Forster; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Still Life with Fruit and Nest of Eggs im November 2007 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 91.000,00 (€ 61.955,34).
