It achieved a price of GBP 134,500.00 (€ 156,985.59), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 68%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by George Dawe; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of Grand Duke Nicholas, Later Emperor Nicholas I (1825-55), On Horseback sold at auction in November 2006 with the realized price of GBP 108,000.00 (€ 160,383.38).
