This work of art by George Chambers Jnr. could be acquired at Christies in London in May 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Maritime auction, the work Dutch barges at the buoy changed hands for GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,954.87) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Chambers Jnr. have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work H.M.S. Agamemnon Lying Off Greenwich, Possibly When Loading The Atlantic Telegraph Cable in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 11,352.50 (€ 16,330.51).
