Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Georg Dionysius Ehret achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2016. In the Brian Sewell - Critic & Collector auction, the work Broad-leaved oak clippings ( Quercus latifolia ) with male and female Purple Emperor butterflies ( Apatura iris ), their upperwings and underwings displayed sold for GBP 6,500.00 (€ 7,527.81) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Georg Dionysius Ehret have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Gloriosa superba (Glory Lily) in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 30,550.00 (€ 50,749.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Georg Dionysius Ehret erzielte im September 2016 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Brian Sewell - Critic & Collector wurde die Arbeit Broad-leaved oak clippings ( Quercus latifolia ) with male and female Purple Emperor butterflies ( Apatura iris ), their upperwings and underwings displayed für GBP 6.500,00 (€ 7.527,81) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Georg Dionysius Ehret auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Gloriosa superba (Glory Lily) im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.550,00 (€ 50.749,63).
