The »bidding war« ended at GBP 25,250.00 (€ 29,914.43), 68% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Gastone Novelli have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Caro Vietnam (Dear Vietnam) in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 187,250.00 (€ 207,157.32).

Die Arbeit Chanson de toile von Gastone Novelli wurde im Oktober 2021 in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 25.250,00 (€ 29.914,43) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gastone Novelli auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Caro Vietnam (Dear Vietnam) im Juni 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 187.250,00 (€ 207.157,32).
